Las Vegas is known for its
many acts and production shows. At one time, seeing a big production show or headliner was
a quintessential part of the Las Vegas experience. Originally starting out as raunchy
vaudevillian acts, today's major shows gave grown into multi-million dollar spectacles.
They have lasers, explosions, fire-breathing dragons and occasionally lots and lots of
boobs. Of course, Las Vegas is also known for it's racy topless revues. Not all of them
are like they are depicted in the movie Showgirls. Some are a lot worse.
Magic shows are also very popular
in Las Vegas. The incredible Sigfried & Roy show has been a Las Vegas institution for
years, but now they have some serious competition. Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo is
phenomenal and you don't pay "institution" prices. Steve Wyrick at the
Lady Luck is also very good and a great value.
Check your
pulse if you don't laugh at some of the comedic impression of Danny Gans. His hilarious
show at the Rio is immensely popular, but as a result it's also the hardest ticket
to get. Other popular shows are Mystere at Treasure Island, a Cirque du Soliel-type show
and MGM Grand's EFX, a special effects show with singing and dancing starring Tommy
Tune.
