LAS
VEGAS WEDDINGS
The Las Vegas metropolitan
area boasts an average of 9,180 weddings a month or 301
weddings a day. Historically, the most popular wedding day
in Las Vegas is Feb. 14, St. Valentines Day, making for an
easy anniversary reminder, among other reasons. The second
most popular Las Vegas wedding date is New Year’s Eve.
A Nevada marriage requires
no blood test and no waiting period. A marriage license
costs $35 and can be obtained at the Clark County Marriage
License Bureau. The county requires proof of age such as a
passport or birth certificate to issue the license.
Parental consent is required for persons under 18 years of
age.
About 50 wedding chapels
are located in the metropolitan area including many in
major casino hotels. Within a half-mile of the Strip,
between Sahara Ave. and downtown, there are numerous
private chapels varying in design and atmosphere that are
fit to accommodate every taste and purse. Couples who want
no frills can pay a marriage commissioner $35 to
administer the wedding vows. Commissioners can be found in
offices near the county license bureau.
The rock bottom price for a
chapel wedding, including the license fee, is roughly
$100. However, the sky is the limit if so desired. The
cost basically depends upon the flourishes requested by
the couple; including flowers, pictures, champagne,
limousine service and audio or video recordings. Moreover,
a variety of services are usually available including
civil ceremonies, non-denominational ceremonies,
ceremonies with original vows and marriages involving kids
from previous relationships.
Many famous people have
married in Las Vegas, including Elvis and Priscilla
Presley, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow, Paul Newman and
Joanne Woodward, and Ann Margaret and Roger Smith, to name
just a few. Non-citizens who exchange wedding vows in the
U.S. may need additional or special documentation to
guarantee marriage is recognized in their country.
